IF YOU HAVE COVID-19

Isolation means staying apart from other people when you have COVID-19. This is an important tool for preventing the transmission of the virus. The best place to isolate is in your own home.

If you test positive and are an older adult or someone who is at high risk of getting very sick from COVID-19, treatment may be available. Contact a healthcare provider right away after a positive test to determine if you are eligible, even if your symptoms are mild right now. Don’t delay: Treatment must be started within the first few days to be effective.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive, or have been instructed to isolate and have any questions, please contact your local public health agency. For more detailed information about how long to isolate, click here.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WHO HAS COVID-19

The CDC no longer recommends quarantine for people who have been exposed to COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. However, CDC recommends that people who have been exposed still take precautions to protect others, such as masking around others for 10 days and getting tested five days after exposure.
